Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide strong leadership to the operations team, fostering a culture of safety, collaboration, and accountability.
- Manage and mentor a diverse team of operators, engineers, and technicians, ensuring optimal performance and professional development.
- Oversee day-to-day plant operations to ensure production targets, quality standards, and safety goals are met.
- Implement best practices and operational procedures to maximize efficiency, minimize downtime, and reduce costs.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, streamline processes, and optimize resource utilization.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
- Promote a safety-first culture throughout the organization, conducting regular safety audits, training programs, and incident investigations.
- Develop and implement emergency response procedures to mitigate risks and ensure the safety of personnel and assets.
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to develop preventive maintenance schedules and reliability improvement plans.
- Monitor equipment performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and maintain operational reliability.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure products meet specifications and customer requirements.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to assess product quality, process efficiency, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Develop and manage the operations budget, forecasting expenditures, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Optimize resource allocation and procurement processes to minimize expenses while maintaining operational effectiveness.
Qualification and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering; advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience (5 years) in a leadership role within the petrochemical or chemical manufacturing industry of this level / magnitude.
- Experience of EO / MEG plant is preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of petrochemical/chemical processes, equipment, and technologies.
- Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to drive operational excellence, manage change, and lead cross- functional teams.
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is desirable.
